Privacy policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit or place an order through this website, why it is collected, and what happens to it afterwards. It is written to be read rather than skimmed, and if anything here is unclear you are welcome to contact us and ask.

What we collect

When you place an order we collect the information required to fulfil it, which means your name, your email address, your billing and shipping addresses, your phone number where you provide one, and the details of what you ordered. Payment card details are entered directly into our payment processor's systems and are never stored on our servers or visible to us at any point.

When you simply browse the site, we collect a smaller and more technical set of information automatically: the pages you visit, the site or search engine that referred you, your approximate location based on your IP address, and details about the browser and device you are using. This happens through cookies and similar technologies, and it is the ordinary way that a website understands whether its pages are working properly.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, leave a review, or contact our support team, we keep the information you chose to give us in that exchange, for as long as it remains useful in helping you.

Why we collect it

Order information is used to process payments, arrange shipping, send you confirmations and tracking updates, and handle returns or support requests afterwards. Technical browsing information is used to keep the site running, to detect fraud and abuse, and to understand in aggregate which parts of the site people find useful and which parts they abandon.

Where you have agreed to it, we also use your email address to send occasional messages about products, offers, and new arrivals. Every one of those messages contains an unsubscribe link, and using it takes effect immediately and permanently.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the parties who need it in order for your order to happen. That includes our ecommerce platform, which hosts the store and processes transactions; our payment processors, who handle the payment itself; the carriers who deliver your package; and the services we use for email, analytics, and customer support. Each of these is bound by its own obligations regarding the data it handles on our behalf.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing purposes. Information may be disclosed where we are legally required to do so, such as in response to a lawful request from a public authority, and it may transfer as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case any new owner remains bound by the commitments made here.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser that allow the site to remember things between page loads, such as the contents of your cart or the fact that you are already logged in. Some are strictly necessary for the site to function at all, while others are used for analytics and advertising measurement. You can restrict or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, with the caveat that blocking the necessary ones will stop parts of the checkout from working.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we are required to keep them for accounting and tax purposes, which is typically several years. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Technical and analytics data is kept in aggregated form, in which individual visitors are no longer identifiable.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact page and we will respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, which is a protection for you rather than an obstacle.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of sixteen. If you believe a child has provided us with such information, contact us and it will be deleted.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection and payment data is handled by processors that meet the relevant industry security standards. No system connected to the internet can be described as perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise, but we take reasonable and current measures to protect the information entrusted to us.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in how the site works or what the law requires. The version published on this page is always the version in effect, and material changes will be reflected in the date shown at the point of publication.
